Airports in Turkey
The town of Dalaman (pop. 20,000) on Turkey's Mediterranean
coast between Marmaris and Fethiye (map), exists for farming
and for Dalaman International Airport (DLM).
The airport, 5.5 km (3 miles) south of the town center,
receives domestic flights from Istanbul daily, and nonstop
flights from Europe (charter and scheduled) several times
weekly.
To fly to Dalaman from a Turkish city other than Istanbul,
you will probably have to connect through Istanbul.
From the airport, Havas airport buses run infrequently
to and from Marmaris and Fethiye. The bus leaves Marmaris's
Turkish Airlines office at 6:15 am, and returns from Dalaman
Airport at 8:45 am to Marmaris. The schedule is similar
from Fethiye. There are also late afternoon buses on Thursday,
Friday and Sunday departing the airport at 6:45 pm (18:45)
for Marmaris and Fethiye. One-way fares are about US$12
for the 60-minute trip to Fethiye (with stops at Dalaman
Town, Göcek and Çalis Beach), and US$16 for
the 90-minute trip to Marmaris (with stops at Dalaman
Town, Ortaca [for Dalyan], Köycegiz. and Gökova).
Otherwise, private services transfer passengers to Dalyan,
Fethiye, Kalkan, Kas, Köycegiz, Marmaris, Mugla and
other western Mediterranean resorts and towns. Transfer
services may cost US$60 to US$150, plus 15% tax, per car
(one or two persons) depending upon your destination. |
