| Cesme is situated on the west
coast of Turkey, surrounded on three sides by the Aegean
Sea. It is also just seventy kilometres from the city of
Izmir and Adnan Menderes airport. The Greek island of Chios
is also not so far away by boat.
It is one of the more popular Turkish holiday resorts
with a typical Mediterranean climate and an average sea
temperature of 18.5 degrees.
Surrounding small towns are excellent places to try out
the natural thermal springs which are especially good
for rheumatism and blood circulation problems. Alacati
is also close by and a great location for those who enjoy
wind surfing for pleasure or on a competitive level.
With a great selection of restaurants and bars also,
a varied resort with something for everyone. Hiring a
car is always a good option for easy access around the

| It is located in the west of
Izmir. The name Cesme means fountain in Turkish. The name
comes from the many springs around the area during the 18th
and 19th centuries. It is one of the most popular holiday
resorts in Turkey with its clean sandy blue sea, fish restaurants
and lovely climate.
In the center there is a 14th century Genoese fortress
which was restored by the Ottomans in the 16th century.
The Caravanserai neighboring the fortress was built by
Suleyman the Magnificent in the 16th century which was
converted to a hotel during the restoration of Hagios
Haralambos Church as the Amir Caka art gallery in the
19th century.
During the day one can join the boat trips to many islands
around Cesme and at night there are many discos, bars,
cafes to make your holiday enjoyable.
Cesme is also famous for the Song Contests in the summer
which is held in the Cesme Castle.
