Holidays to Gibraltar
The rock of Gibraltar whether seen from the air, sea or land
is truly impressive and marks the separation of two continents
previously joined together, namely Africa and Europe. The
straits of Gibraltar at their narrowest point are a mere 12
miles from North Africa and hence the attraction of a two
centre holiday between Gibraltar and Tangiers. The islands
rich naval history is a source of much interest amongst travelers
and it is possible to tour many of the tunnels under the rock,
allegedly over 200 miles in an area of 2 square miles. Local
folklore has it that there may have been a tunnel between
the two continents as a reason to explain the local Barbary
apes as they exist no where else in Europe.

Travel to Gibraltar
Gibraltar is at the crossroads of the Atlantic Ocean and
Mediterranean Sea with a land border with Spain (La Linea)
Visitors must produce a passport when entering or leaving
via this border as tensions still exist between Britain
and Spain although not at their previous levels. There is
a lot to do here if you like history, Gibraltar has been
under British rule for more than 250 years and its influence
is everywhere, red postal boxes, British policemen, the
burial place of Admiral Nelson who was supposedly pickled,
the fabulous caves where in the 2nd world war they were
used as makeshift hospitals and nowadays are used for concerts.
The marinas formerly used by the Royal Navy now attract
many of the worlds cruise liners for their clients to purchase
duty free items like Cigarettes, Spirits, Gold, perfumes.
There are also 5 beaches in Gibraltar and a cable car takes
you to the top of the rock of Gibraltar. Day trips for Dolphin
watching are readily available as are fishing expeditions.
