Samos island is in the Eastern part of the Aegean Sea. It’s geographically located between the parallels 37.49° and 37.37° to the North and the meridians 26.33° and 27.04° to the East. Samos is less than two miles from the coast of Asia Minor at its closest point. The nearest islands include Ikaria, Chios, Fourni and Patmos.

Samos can be reached by both air and sea. Its International Airport (SMI) is located in the Pythagorion region and receives direct charter flights from London and Manchester throughout the summer, along with daily connections to and from a number of other countries. Direct flights from the UK to Samos, which take approximately 3-4 hours, can be purchased for as little as £200 return with airlines such as Thomson Fly (www.thomsonfly.com). The island is also easily accessible by ferry from Turkey and nearby islands.

Not only is there an international airport on the island which receives flights from all over Europe, there are also two ferry terminals. Tourism on the island increased by 21% in 2006 and 40% of all tourism is from Greek Nationals (11% is UK sourced), ensuring a strong local demand. An independent report undertaken by Christie & Co strongly indicates that there is a need for further upmarket tourism on the island.
