The investment plans in Larnaca include:
New cruise terminal
Major work is planned which includes facilities to accommodate cruise ships. 5 year project from 2009 to increase capacity for cruise ships
bringing in 40,000 passengers per week, many of whom will “cruise & stay” requiring further hotel accommodation.
Larnaca International Airport
Currently under construction and due to be completed in 2009. The new Larnaca Airport will accommodate long haul flights and low
cost airlines.
Currently 2.5m passengers
2009 – completion of Phase 1 – 7.5m passengers
2013 – completion of Phase 2 – 10m passengers
TBC – completion of Phase 3 – 14m passengers
Marina & waterfront
Larnaca Marina will be upgraded and extended. The plans include the provision for more than 1200 yachts with facilities.
5 year project from 2009 to increase capacity for yachts from the current 300 to 1200, making it the biggest marina in the Med. Will include
three 5-star hotels, new promenade with bars and restaurants.
West of Larnaca
Major new development is planned for this coastline allowing for three marinas, five star hotels and theme parks.
Larnaca hotels
There are currently only 6 luxury hotels in Larnaca of which only one is in the town centre. Between the six they offer around 1000 rooms/suits
with an average occupancy level running at 67% per annum (close to 100% at the only town centre hotel).
PGA Golf Course
The new PGA Signature golf course in Tersefanou will include a 5 Star hotel and country club, multiple restaurants and bars, state of the art
business centre, retail village complex, entertainment, spa and equestrian facilities
